635 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Oct 15 1888 Ordered that the Council do now adjourn. Approved Robert Moran mayor Attest W R Forrest by C W Ferris depty Clerk Oct 19 1888 Be it remembered that on the 19th day of Oct AD 1888 the Common Council of the City of Seattle met pursuant to law in their Council Chambers in the City Hall. Present His Hon Mayor Robt Moran councilmen F J Burns, D E Durie, Jos Green, Jas McCoombs, C F Reitze and Deputy clerk C W Ferris. Petition of Mrs Kate Baker for permissionto cut hole in sidewalk on 3rd Street Read and Referred to the Street Com. Comunication for Amos Brown in reference to the condition of Spring St Sewer. Read and referred to Sewer Com. Petition of A W Engle et al for vacating alley in Block 89 Terry's 2nd Addn Read and referred to Street Com. Petition of Louisa Thompson et al for a change of the Cow Limit Ordinance. read and Referredto the Com on Health and Police Claim of David Feguson for damages of injuries received by being knocked down by hose-cart night of Mechanics Mill fire. Referred to City Attorney. Petition of Viola Jerome for permission to repair certain building within fire limits. read and rejected. Petition of N Williams for permission to repair certain building within fire limits. Read and tabled. Petition of Van Nort and Conlin et al for opening alley between Main and Washington, 2nd and 3rd Streets. Read and referred to Committee on Streets.

637 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Oct 19 1888 From Same Granting petition of W F Dearborn for change of name of Cedar Street in Bell's 5th Addition Adopted. From Same granting petition from City Engineer, recommending that stone monuments be placed at street intersection. Adopted. From Fire and Water Committee on the Mayor's message, in regard to the Water supply, recommending that an election be held on the 19th day of Nov 1888 to decide if the citizens desired that Bond be issued to the amount of not more than One Million dollars for the purposes of bringing by water from Rock Creek. The Com. also submit estimates by Mr J G Scurry City Engineer showing that the approximate expense of bringing water from Rock Creek to distributing reservoir in Seattle will be $764,980.00 Report Adopted. From Same Com. Granting petition of A Mailland for permission to erect porch in rear of Cooperative Store. Adopted. From Same Com. rejecting petition of Geo N Moore for an ordinance to license traveling photographers. Adopted. Licenses Ordered issued. Against same none. 1007 The City Atty submits an ordinance entitled "An ordinance to establish and regulate the fire department of the City of Seattle" Passed by the following vote. Against same none. 1008 The City Clerk submits an ordinance entitled "A Special ordinance appropriating money to pay audited bills" Passed by the following vote. In favor, F J Burns, D E Durie Jos Green, T E Jones C F Reitze. Against same none. Ordered that the matter of the care of sick and indigent persons be refered to Committee on Health & Police. Ordered that the City Atty be instructed to enjoin H L Yesler from obstructing the foot of Columbia Street Ordered that the Council do now adjourn.
