Seattle WA Aug. 20th 1890
To the Honorable Mayor and Common Council of the
City of Seattle:
Gentlemen:
Noticing in the column
of a morning paper that you are to hold a special
meeting at 10 o'clock a.m. for the purpose of taking
under advisment the bid made last night
by Chicago parties for the purchase of nearly
a million dollars of your municiple
bonds, the writer, a resident of your city
begs to inform your honorable body that
he has been negotiating for eastern capital
-ists with reference to a purchase of
of said bonds. That he hoped ere this to
have made a bid for their purchase, but
owing to the ill advised publicity con-
cerning the legality of the issue of said
bonds made by a portion of our city
press, there has been some delay. As
it seems an injustice to the taxpayers
of this city to take hasty action in
the consummation of a sale of so large
