About
For our next Transcribe-A-Thon, we will be transcribing the papers of longtime Sandy Spring residents, the Miller family. Originally from Alexandria, Virginia, the Miller Family would later move to Sandy Spring in the mid 19th century and become established members of the community. During their time in Sandy Spring, Henry H. Miller served as the town’s postmaster and was a cashier of the First National Bank of Sandy Spring. Henry’s father, Francis Miller, would go on to become a prominent lawyer and local politician, serving as the Republican candidate for several state positions, including attorney-general. Documents for this event will include letters, essays and scrapbooks from various family members. Join us as we learn more about the Miller family and their life in Sandy Spring!
