June 21st 1887. It has been quite a while since I have
written in my Diary and I will now try
to make up for lost time. I started from
Denver on June 1st, Just seven month and
one day lines & arrived in this beautiful
city of the plains, my return trip across
plain forest & mountain to the town of
Sandy Spring which I left something
over 7 months before. I had but little
time in which to bid my friends goodby
as there was but little notice given
to me from home to pack up & get
ready so I saw all of them I could
and I started from the Union Depot
on Wednesday June 21st 1887 at 1:50 P.M
The trip to Colorado Springs was not
especially interesting as I had been
there before as stated in my last notes.
The principal stations were
Littleton, Castle Rock, Edgarton, Ascequia
I mention the last for its insignificance
rather than for any worth or standing, this
town consisted of a water tank beside the
railroad track, a small dwelling house
with the sign in big letters on a small board
"Post Office" land the third set off & also
