Thursday. July. 23d 1868

J Boyd horse Raked the "ten acre" field
in the forenoon, he and David hauled
in the Rakings in the afternoon.
I felt quite unwell and did not get
up until dinner time. felt miserable
all day. Weather has moderated very
much altho it is still very warm
in the middle of the day; there have
several heavy storms passed around
us, near enough to cool the atmosphere
without giving us any Rain.

Friday July 24th
Rainy at intervals all day. JB tried
to thresh a grist of wheat with an
old fashioned flail but owing to the
wheat not being very dry did not succeed
very well. Sent him to mill
in the afternoon and borrowed 50 lbs
of flour. also got 2 Bushels of chop
feed (corn & oats) which was charged to me.
Benj: Moore moved the threshing machine
here from Jno: Hoffmans.
