Drove to Ashton turned out a
very stormy day. Snow, Rain & sleet.
Recd postal card from D.W.C.
Wrote and mailed letter to Harriet.
Very stormy. Took little Richard
home to Riverside with me, called
at E Lea's-

& Robt: Awkard's, home by Sandy Spring
to office- Recd: letters from Dora-
Wrote & mailed letter to D.W.C-
Bros Jos: and Chas: and Sister Deborah called
at the office- Also Wm Lea and Owin Disney
& Tom Davis.

Drove to Ashton. Tomas
Lea, Wm Leisure (of Perry). Mr & Mrs
Cornelius Leisure and daughters, & son--
Marlow, Caroline Edwards, Harriet
Smallwood, & Mrs Howard
Stabler called at the office-
Chas: & Lizzie took tea at cousin
M Chandlee's- Dull disagreeable
day throughout.

{January 20}

Rained nearly all last night. Very
sloppy traveling this morning. Drove to Jno:
M Smith's & made a call found there T M Smith
and Anthony Smith: Went to Bob Awkard's but
first of all, called at Edwd: Lea's- Went to
my office. Recd letter from wife. Sullivan
people called & had teeth extracted,
Went to Fulford thence to E Hall's
via Mechanicsville. Took tea & spent the
evening there Returning to Fulford to lodge.

Sunday
{January 21}

Feel quite unwell, Remained
at Fulford all day. Wrote to H-
Helen Bentley & Harry & Richard dined
there. Returned to Riverside after
tea- Chas & Lizzie, Jos & Deborah went to
"Sharon" and "Brooke Grove"-
