after tea Ernest came to stay all night
with Charley they expecting to go to
Baltimore tomorrow. Phineas Carol
here for advice for child.

Saturday, 22
Charley & Ernest started for Balto about
7-o'clock taking my phaeton & "Betty" with
Ernest's mare - Little Edwd quite sick last
night, high fever & delirious -. Went to
office driving "Polly" in the sleigh - Wnet
to Mrs Caroline Scott's (on horseback).
Henson Johnson here tinkering at the
pump -

Sunday, 23
Went (on horseback) to Henson
Johnson's & to Fulford. Bro: Charles
dined with us - Afternoon went to
Jno: King's - Remus Johnson here for advice
& med: for his son's wife. Charley & Ernest
reached here from Balto about 9-o'clock
pm. the latter went on over
to Riverside - Little Edwd still very
sick

Monday, 24th

"Betty" mare seems quite stiff and
decidedly the worse of her trip to
town Went to office had "Betty newly
shod "in front". Went to Henson Johnson's
& Sandy Spring store to see Saml Bond.
Thus Sam & Fanny Dickinson called & got
our crib to use for little "Tom" for a while.
Mary Cole & Ernest Cissel called for
advice etc Baby still miserable.

Henson Johnson here trying to repair
pump - Afternoon drove over to Mrs C. B.
Scott's & got a bag of corn for my horses -
Henson Johnson here after tea
for advice & med: for son's wife -

Sarah Edward's (widow of Nathan
Edwards) here for advice & med: for her
infant. Went to office mended office
water pitcher - Sarah Johnson here
for advice & med for her son.
Went to Remus Johnson's twice
Henson Johnson fixed the pump.

I am not sure how to transcribe the symbol made on the last line of the 24th. I have seen this before, occasionally. If it appears again, I would like to know how to transcribe correctly.

This mark appears when Dr Iddings says etc. In other words, he gave the mother advice etc.
While transcribing, this transcriber has used it many times.
