Dull disagreeable day drizzling rain most of the day. Snow on roof of the W carriage horse was so heavy often getting wet it fell on the top of my pledge tow & came near crushing it out Willie saw it in time & Bro Chas and his son Fred: came just then and we succeeded in getting it out before it came {illegible] entirely. B.O. Harveys wife sent twice for Charley. I sent her medicine. I am quite unwell with rheumatism & head ache. but drove to Ashton to see Emma King. Afternoon Willie drove "Bess" to the Road cart over to Muncasters expecting to stay all night. A few sleighs are out to day but but it is but it is rather poor sleighing
