Ther. 65o Rain.Rain Wind N.E. July 8th Wednesday

Real rainy day it commenced raining about 2. o'clk this a.m. & continued all day. I am feeling better, but still am quite miserable. Afternoon I went up to the shops & helped "Billy" Oldfield finish repairing my "arm rocking chair" ready for painting. [...]Hackett was here to see Charley. Oliver Watts was here this morning to see C. This has been an unusually "raw" cold rainy day: We had a fire in the dining room which was very comfortable.

I walked over to Jos: Stabler's to see him about getting some ham, but could not find him: walked up to the store & shops twice today. Mrs: Chas: Warfield & Mrs Walter Lea called this afternoon. Foggy early this morning, but cleared off before 9. o'clk and was clear & beautiful weather the rest of the day. James Grady worked at lathing the South room all day. We took the South window out of our room & closed it up. Afternoon Sisters Mary & Lizzie called. After supper Gideon Gilpin was here to consult me. I walked up to the store with him. This has been another of the perfectly ideal summer days of which we have had so many this summer.
