Clear - High Wind Ther 45o Sat. April 16, 1892 NW Wind
Clear, but raw & chilly. Jarrett Lee was at the office to see me. Levi Hopkins' daughter was also here to consult me. Afternoon Willie went with Mrs. F Downey to __ Griffith's driving Downey's mare to W's cart. Clifford Waters went to Washington this morning, & Willie took his place in the store in the evening after supper.
Cloudy & Fair Ther 40 Sunday 17th SE Wind
I walked down to the "meeting house" near Sherwood school, met several friends from Loudon Co Va. who live near son Charley & all speak highly of him. Ed:Davis (colored) was here for advice & med: for his children. Ellie Chandlee Alice & F Peirce called & Dora and Willie went with them to church at Mechanicsville; it being "Easter Sunday.". Dora & I went to meeting again in the evening. W. also went, & brought F. Peirce to meeting & took her home again after meeting.
Cloudy & Rain Ther 55o Mon. April 18th, 1892 S.E. wind
After breakfast I drove down to Jarrett Lee's. beyond & back of Henry Baker's place near "Colesville". also went to Jas:Bryan on Warwick Miller's place. Willie going with me. Wrote to F. Tyson agreeing to purchase the "Frank" horse upon the terms and at the price named by him in his last letter. ($90.00, $45 cash, & balance in monthly payments of $5.00 for nine mos:) Afternoon Marcellina Sedgwick sent me a note about Martha Wright. Philip J Stabler sent for medicine for his wife. Willie took Clifford Waters' place in the store all afternoon. C laid up with injured shoulder joint. Chas & Samuel were here about Sam's eye after dark.
Clear & Cloudy Ther 50 Tuesday 19 S.E. Wind
John Lethbridge in office for advice & medicine for himself. I drove to Sarah E Wright's & prescribed for her grand-daughter, also drove to Saml Sedgwick's to see Martha Ann Wright. Made a thorough examination of her case "Phil" went with me. Willie in store all day. C Waters unable to come to the store. Afternoon T Henderson & I went to the school house & examined the teachers accounts' & report.

Willie was at the store again all day. I rode "Frank" (horse back) to Sarah E Wright's to see her grand daughter again. Afternoon it commenced raining. Chas: Addison was here for advice & medicine. John "Shipley" Johnson was also here towards evening & did the feeding for me. Walked up to the store in the evening & came home with Willie in the rain & mud.
Ther. 40 Rain Thursday 21 N E Wind
Willie went to the store again. I walked over to Sarah Wright's Jas: Holland sent us 1/2 cord of hickory wood. Afternoon John W Johnson came to work cleaning the horses stables etc. he took "Fritz" down to Jas Marlow's & had him shod "behind". Edwd Elkhorn was here for advice and medicine for his infant son.
Ther. 56 Cloudy and Rain FRI APRIL 22, 1892 Wind. Variable
Rainy and disagreeable morning. I drove over to Sarah Wright's John W Johnson with me. & also down to see Edwd Elkhorn's child Willie with me. Willie bought a sack of flour at the mill. John was here to breakfast, also Clifford Waters, whoes shoulder is well enough for him to go to work again in the store. Afternoon Willie drove "Fritz" to Brighton and brought Fanny Pierce home with him after supper. Mrs B O Hardy sent for medicine for her infant.
Ther 58o Clearing SATURDAY 23d Wind N.W.
Tried hard to clear off. The sun shone out more than half the time. I rode "Frank" over to Sarah Wright's. Willie took Fanny Pierce home with "Fritz" to the cart. Afternoon Dora walked to Homewood and to E Peirce's to spend the night. I recd: letter from Lucy Warfield (Haverford College) with enclosure. I answered it after supper W took Mary Wilson to a lecture at the Lyceum. Edwd also went with Bessie Robison.

Clear Ther. 52o SUN. APRIL 24, 1892 Wind Variable
Willie drove Frank over to Mr Holland's & took Miss K Mathews to Mechanicsville church & afternoon he drove "Fritz" to Brighton to church & brought Dora home about dark. I rode "Frank" over to Sarah Wright's to see Amanda Dublins boy and also "Frankie " Hill. After we had gone to bed our dear son Charley arrived from Lincoln Va: having ridden over on horseback riding Hopkins horse which he has had all winter. We were delighted to see him. Went to J Grady's and prescribed for his infant son.

Quite cool and raw today again & threatening rain. I drove down to Ashton to prescribe for Bulwars infant daughter also to "Alf:" Bells to prescribe: for "Eleanora". & over to S Wright's to see both children & called again at Jas Grady's to see his infant. Afternoon W drove over to Hollands corner & brought Kate Mathews home with him. W exchanged his road cart with Edwd Gilpin for a top buggy. Dr Roger Brooke called to see Charley towards evening.
Clear Ther. 40o TUES. APRIL 26th 1892 Wind
Clear & bright again this morning. I drove down to Ashton to see Balwar's infant again. "Phil" with me after which Charles drove "Frank" to the Surry & taking Dora and Miss "Kate" Mathews drove to Riverside to make a call. & I drove "Fritz" (to Clifford Water's cart) over to see Amanda Dublin's boy "Claudius" again "Phil" with me. Mary H. Hill paid me her bills $ (12.00). Afternoon. Charley took Miss "Kate" over to Holland's corner, driving the Hopkin's horse to Clifford's cart. Edwd went with Charley this morning to Riverside & remained until evening. Sarah Wright &Mary Hill called for medicine for Amanda's boy.

I drove down to Ashton Charley again with me I then drove over to Sarah Wright's. Afternoon Mrs Bryan called for advice & med: for herself. Charley drove the Hopkins horse to Bulwar's buggy to Mr Mathews at Glenwood taking Miss Kate with him from Hollands corner. Willie rode down to Jno: Thoma's to collect some money for me. After supper W &I walked up to the store, & I worked at putting "snaps" on the curtains for the "Surry".

Cloudy Ther. 40 THURS. 28th 1892 Wind N.E.
Cool and cloudy early this a.m. Jas: Johnson (white) here & had tooth extracted. Colored boy Edwd Johnson here for advice & med all before Breakfast. Frank Snowden brought his little girl "Elsie" for advice & medicine also before Breakfast. I drove down to Sarah Wright's called at Jas Cash's to prescribe for his infant. W going with me. Charley came from Glenwood & brought Gertrude Mathews with him & after early dinner they drove to Rockville in the "Surry" driving "Frank"& the Hopkins horses Willie going to bring the team back. Mr Williamson of Frederick was here afternoon. I mailed Money Order to F Tyson for $45.00 at Sandy Spring. Willie returned from Rockville about 6-30 p.m.

Rain again this morning. I am glad Charley got home before it commenced. Willie went over to Downey's to see about hay and took the Hopkin's horse home before dinner. I walked down to Jas: Cosh's & he came for medicine Geo: Mathews sent & I sent him $1:00 by Edwd Hickman. Afternoon Willie worked in the mill E Elkhorn brought his infant to the office for medicine etc. After tea Dora Miss Gertrude Mathews and Willie walked over to Downey's to make a call.
Clear Ther. 62o SAT. APRIL 30th 1892 Wind N.W.
Beautiful day. Willie took Jas: Henderson's cart & brought some hay from Mr: Downeys & took Bulwar's buggy home. I rode "Fritz" to Sarah Wrights &Jas Cosh's. Bro Charles called & smoked a pipe with me. After supper I walked up to the store with "Clifford", who came in to spend the night after the store closed. Thos Lea employed Frank Leizear to move the remains of James Lea (his brother) from the friends burying ground to " Woodside" Cemetary". The bones were all perfect and some portions of cloth clothing. It was Martha Lea who wished the removal.
Clear Ther. 62o SUNDAY, May 1st Wind S.
This has been a beautiful "May Day". Willie returned from Glenwood about 10 o'clk this morning. Isaac Johnson brought Owen Burgess from Spencerville to me for advice & medicine. Afternoon Alice & Fanny Peirce came & spent an hour or two. I walked up to Henderson's for the papers. Willie drove Fritz to Riverside & to see Chas J Hill about plowing the lot & perhaps elsewhere

Clear Ther 69o MON. MAY 2d, 1892 Wind S.W.
Quite warm today. I finished putting "snaps" on Surry curtains and commenced hanging them but it was so hot in the carriage & I quit. Susanah Nugent was here for advice and medicine afternoon. I worked in the garden & washed phaeton & buggy. I rode to Ashton with W who drove "Frank" to "Cincinatti" and brought Mary Wilson to a Base Ball" game Miss Connell took the school children out into the woods for a "May day Pic Nic", Edwd going with them. Mrs Hardy sent for advice & medicine for herself. We had quite a little thunder gust towards evening but not much rain. More wind; it was quite heavy south & north of us, having divided, before it reached us. Beautiful sunset.
Ther. 68o Clear SW Wind TUESDAY 3d
Beautiful morning. I drove over to see Chas T Hill again about plowing the lot. Edwd with me. We made a nice call at Lizzie Tyson's Grove Hill & also at Riverside for a few minutes. Afternoon C.T Hill plowed the lot & ran the harrow over it. but it is rougher and in worse condition than I remember to have ever seen it. John W Johnson was here for advice & medicine. I rode "Frank" down to see Cosh's child again towards evening.
Ther. 70o Clear Wind Variable WED. MAY 4th, 1892
Quite foggy this morning but cleared off and was very warm all day. John W Johnson came about 9 . o'clock this a.m. and worked all the rest of the day. Reset one of the front gate posts etc. we planted some early rose potatoes & sweet corn. Willie worked in the garden. Ruth Anne Bowen was here for advice & medicine. I was sent for and drove down to Ashton to prescribe for Henry Ent, towards evening. After supper W drove "Fritz" over to Riverside to stay all night and help his uncle plant corn tomorrow all day.
Ther. 68o Clear Wind E THURSDAY 5th
Another beautiful day & much cooler. Jno [W Johnson worked all day in the garden getting it in order "rubbing" harrowing etc. I drove to Ashton to see Ent again. Mr Hannah Agent for the G F Harvy Co: Saratoga N.Y. was here. Afternoon I ordered a new sign from Mr Ridge with "office hours" etc. on it. Willie came home after supper from Riverside where he has been helping Bro Chas plant corn. I altered the carriage house, taking out the partition etc. Frank Robison helping me.
