Clear & Cloudy Ther 16o THURS. FEB. 23, 1893 Wind

Quite good sleighing on the turnpike except when it is too much drifted, but too rough & many bare places on the dirt roads. I rode to Ashton on Wilber Cissel's slide or "bobsled" and walked home. Afternoon "Phil" & I hitched "Frank" to the sleigh and drove up to the store and down to Ashton. Frank Cook was here for advice & medicine for his wife at suppertime.

Clear & Cloudy Ther. 31 FRI. FEB. 24, 1893 SW Wind

About home all day except up at the mill. Edwin Davis sent us a 1/2 cord of green oak wood.

Clear & Cloudy Ther 32o SAT. FEB. 25th , 1893 SW&NW Wind

Clear early this morning and cloudy afternoon until towards sun set when the wind changed to N.W. with a dash of eain & it grew colder. I was at home all day except at the mill & up at the store etc towards dusk. Bought some meat from the "Laurel Butcher" Edwd went to Jno Bentley's to take his "music lesson" after dinner.

Clear Ther. 30o SUN. FEB. 26th, 1893 N.W. Wind

I walked down to see old "Julia Green" on Saml Thomas place. Dora & Edwd walked up to E Peirce's to dinner to attend church afternoon. I changed the "pole" for the "shafts" on the "Surry" and drove "Frank" up to E Peirces & brought the children home in time for supper. The roads are very sloppy, and in places drifts are still very deep; with lanes dug through them to permit the passage of vehicles. Angeline Thomas called for medicine for her mother.

Clear & Cloudy Ther. 30 MON. FEB 27, 1893 N.W. S E Wind

Ground frozen hard this morning, but soon became sloppy & muddy. Bro R & Sister Lizzy called for a short time this a.m. Afternoon there was a sort of "Scrubb" trotting race gotten up at a sale in Howard Co. to trot from Sandy Spring to Ashton for $25.00 "a side," but was a failure. One of the horses, "running" whenever he was pushed the parties making the race were Ayers & "Marlow", both Howard Co. people.

Rain & Sleet Ther 31o Tuesday Feb 28th Wind N.E,

Commenced Raining & sleeting before midnight last and continued all day to day. I went to the store & afternoon up to the mill. This has been one of the most disagreeable days we have had in a long time and is hard upon "Rheumatics". I have felt stiff sore and blue all day. I called at Gideon Gilpin's to see E about getting more coal. I also called at the toll house.

Clear & Cloudy Ther. 30o WED. MAR. 1st, 1893 NW & SW Wind

Cleared off before sunrise this morning & was a pleasant day "overhead". Mr Oldfield (well digger) working at the mill was at the office to consult me. Afternoon Mrs R R Moore Jr brought her little son "William" to me for advice & medicine. Mr J.J. Hanna "agent" for Harvey Drug Co: N.Y. was here to see me. Mr T Watters of S also called. I went to the store & P.O. and again after supper.

Clear N.W. Ther. 30o THURS. MAR. 2, 1893 Wind

Pleasant weather overhead again but awfully muddy & sloppy. Went to the mill to see Mr Oldfield & prescribed for him again. Clarence E Hill a colored boy grandson of Remus Hill Sr. was here & I gave him a letter sending him to Provedance Hospital in Washington D.C. Dr R Brooke called.

Cloudy Ther. 30o FRI. MAR. 3d, 1893 N.E. Wind

Mr J Oldfield (well digger) was in the office for advice & medicine before starting for his home near Washington. Weather "Raw" cloudy and threatning all day. Edwin Davis sent us a 1/2 cord of green hickory wood, which "Phil" & I carried into the wood house. I made a pair of little "stocking boards" for our grand daughter "Hallie". It looks now as if tomorow would be a stormy day, for the "inauguration" ceremonies of Grover Cleveland for his second term as President of the United States, which would be a great disappointment to thousands of people who will be there to witness this taking the oath of office.

"Snow Snow" Ther. 33o SAT MAR. 4th 1893 NE N.W. Wind

A terribly disagreeable day for the Inaguration . I fear many will be made sick who attend it. It commenced snowing before sunrise & continued until afternoon but the wind kept blowing hard from N.W. drifting the snow as badly as it has been this winter
