Ther. 74 Clear Wind Thurs. Sept. 12, 1895

This has been an extremely hot day for the time of year. The thermometer was about 90 in the shade; bfortunately the nights are cool. I was about home all day except going up to Hendersons for the papers & walking up to see John Ridge after supper. Chas Hill (of Reiner's)wife brought her little daughter for advice & medicine after dark.

Ther. 70 Clear & Cloudy Wind Variable Friday 13th

Looked like rain this morning & is much cooler this afternoon. I drove to Ashton to see Mrs. Baker's little boy & readjusted the bandages etc. on his arms. Dr D Dwyer being also there about some dental work. I drove down to John Bowen's to see Ruth Ann again. Afternoon I went up to the store & again after supper to the Toll House.

Ther. 52 degrees Clear Wind N.W. Sat. Sept. 14th

Quite cool this morning. Bro Chas rode his bicycle over from "Riverside" being the longest ride he has yet taken. Mr Chas Hallowell was at the office for advice and medicine. I took the phaeton up to the shop to have the top renovated. Afternoon Lizzie brought Sister Harriet over from "Riverside: & left her here. Alice Peirce brought W & Fanny over before supper going home again after tea leaving them here.

Ther. 43o Clear Wind N.W. Sunday 15th

Really cold to day. Made a fire in the dining room. I went to meeting with Thos Lea who called on his way. "Alf" Bell came to meeting after me & I went with him to see "Eleanor" who is in "confinement." I came home to dinner & went again about dusk & home again. W & Fanny went to "Fairfield" before supper. Alice came after them. Edwd went on his bicycle to bring Dora & the Surry home. Dora going with Alice & W driving the Surry with Fanny with him. I went this morning (from "Alf" Bell's) down to Ashton to see Mrs Baker's little boy again before I came home to dinner.

Ther. 54 Clear Wind S.E. Mon. Sept. 16, 1895

I rode on horseback to Alf Bell's to see "Eleanor" whose child was born about 9.30 p.m. without my being called up. I also rode down to see Ruth Anna Bowen again. Afternoon I was sent for & went to see Louis Johnson's wife on Downey's place. Sister Harriet & Dora walked to "Avenon?" & made a call, also to Saml Wetheralds to call upon Kate Stabler. It commenced raining about dusk. Edwd & Phil brought the phaeton home from the shops.

Ther. 67 Clear & cloudy Wind S.W. Tuesday 17

Much warmer again. John W. Johnson brought his horse and helped get out the potatoes in the lot; he was here to dinner. After noon Dora & Sister H walked to Ashton & back. Talbot T Awkard was here for advice & medicine. After supper Mrs Louis Johnson was here for advice & medicine. Kate Stabler took tea with us. Edwd & I walked home with her.

Ther. 68o Cloudy & Clear Wind Variable Wed. Sept. 18th, 1895

We had quite a thunder gust this morning with some hard rain. Afternoon it cleared off. I went to the mill & bought 1/4 cord of pine wood from T Henderson & wheeled it down on wheel barrow. Martha Bowen was here for advice & med for her sister. Carrie Hopkins was also here for advice & medicine. Robert Miller & Marianna Stabler were married at "The Cottage" this afternoon at 5.o'clk. Mary Gilpin called & took Sister Harriet to the wedding & brought her home after dark.

Ther. 75 Clear & Cloudy Wind Variable Thursday 19

This has been an extremely hot day, 91 in the shade at noon. I drove to Ashton & called to see Mrs Baker's boy. Bro Chas called to bid good bye to Sister Harriet who expects to return to Phila tomorrow. After noon a thunder gust passed north & one south of us. Edwd & Letittia Kummer called this afternoon. After supper I walked up to the P.O. & mailed a letter to Thos H Borden.

Ther. 73o Foggy & Clearing Wind Fri. Sept. 20, 1895

Sister Harriet left in the stage this morning for Laurel & Philada. This has been another hot day thermometer 92 degrees again in the shade on office porch. I walked up to the P.O. after supper.

Ther. 75 Clear Wind Variable Saturday 21st

This has been another very hot day Thermometer 94 in the shade at 12.o'clk (noon): Afternoon Edwd & Phil rode their bicycles & "Frank" rode my horse to "Riverside" for a bath in the River. Willie & Fanny came before supper. After tea W & I walked up to the store. Frank Hopkins (colored) was here for advice & med. for his infant after I had gone to bed.

Ther. 73 Clear Wind Sun. Sept. 22st 1895

Was called by telephone & drove to "Marden" to prescribe for Mrs R R Moore Jr. Henry Mathews called also Miss Ellen Farquhar. Edward rode bicycle to Ashton for medicine for Mrs R R Moore Jr. & Willie drove to "Marden" to take it to her taking Miss E Farquhar with him. Cousin Hannah Chandler came to spend the day with us. Afternoon Willie Edwd & the Robison boys all went to the River "for a swim" again. I loaned them my horse & buggy, they came home to late supper. This has been another oppressively hot day. W & Fanny went back to "Fairfield" after supper.

Ther. 70o Clear Wind N.W. Monday 23d

Still hot, but a nice breeze makes it much more endurable. I drove to Ashton & to John Bowen's to see Ruth Anna again & then to "Marden" to see Marg T. Moore again. Alcinda Hill washed for H. Thos Waters (of S) ex tax collector called & left statement of taxes due him (to date $17.00) Frank Hopkins (colored) was here to see me after I had gone up stairs to bed.

Ther. 70 Clear Wind N.W. & S.E. Tues. Sept. 24th, 1895

Cooler this morning a nice breeze blowing from N.W. until toward evening when it cleared to S.E. & feels like rain. I drove to Ashton to see Mrs Baker's boy again then to "Marden" to see Margt T. Moore again. After supper I went to a called meeting of the Ashton & Sandy Spring Democratic Club held in the Shop of A F Fairall Esq. It "sprinkled" rain for a short time after dark.

Ther. 71 Cloudy Wind Wednesday 25

I was about home all day except going up to the store & P.O. After supper "Frank" Hopkins (colored) was here for advice & medicine. About 8.30 p.m. there came up the heaviest electric thunderstorm we have had (just in our locality) with perhaps once exception this year, it had been looking more like a settled rain all day.

Ther. 60o Clear Wind S.E. N.W. Thurs. Sept. 20th, 1895

Not as cool as we hoped it would be after the storm of last night. Bro Chas. called (on horseback) & I rode with him to Ashton & had my horse shod "in front" with shoes removed. Afternoon it looked like our having another gust. I got $1.00 worth of horse feed at the mill on the order from "Alf" Bell this morning. Edwd & "Phil" rode to Olney for butter just before dark.

Ther. 68o Clear Wind N.W. Friday 27th

Cleared off much cooler during the day. I rode to Ashton on horseback after dinner. Edwd rode up to "Fairfield" on his bicycle towards evening, before supper. I walked up to the store & P.O. after dusk. Lizzie Scott was here to see Dora. The wind seems to have settled in the N.W. and I hope will bring us some autumn like weather as they have had a "snow blizzard" as the far N.W. in "Wyoming."

Ther. 47o Clear Wind N.W. Sat. Sept. 28th, 1895

Much cooler. Edwd came home from "Fairfield" before breakfast. I rode up to "Marden" to prescribe for Margt G. T. Moore again, they having telephoned for me. I fixed a spring latch on the front gate. Willie & Fanny came just at supper time to spend the night. After supper Willie & I walked up to the store.

Ther. 65 Clear & Cloudy Wind Variable Sunday 29th

I went to meeting, which was a silent one. Willie & Fanny, Dora & Edwd went to "Fairfield" & from there over to "Treadelphia" & back to Fairfield to supper. About 4.30 p.m. it came on to blow a gale from N.W: it seemed to pass over, but about dusk it commenced raining steadily. Dora & Edwd came home after dark in the rain. I was called over to "Central" to talk to Hallie Bentley about cousin Hannah's foot which has been very painful.

Ther. Clear Wind Variable Mon. Sept. 30th, 1895

Quite cool this morning I made a fire in the dining room. Was called by telephone & drove down to Bloomfield to see cousin Hannah Chandlee, also went to Ashton. Willie went with me, having come from "Fairfield." He afterward drove "Frank" to "Redland" to see about a carpet & returned to dinner. After which he walked to Fairfield again. After supper Edwd went to the Lyceum as door keep for a lecture by "Miss Yates.'

Ther. 36o Clear Wind N.W. Tuesday, Oct 1st

The first frost this morning Edwd went to Sherwood & made fires in the School rooms for the first time. I recd & answered note from Mr. G. T Moore. Afternoon H & I drove over to "Fairfield" & made a call. Willie & Fanny walked over and took tea with us to spend the night here.
