Ther. 68 Cloudy, Rain & Clearing. Wind. Variable
Sunday Aug. 8,th 1897.

It was very cloudy this morning and
commenced raining about 11.o'clk
Edwd & I went to meeting, which was
silent, except a few words from Sarah
Miller (Benj's wife). I was raining
when we came out of meeting.

Afternoon it cleared off about 4
o'clock and Willie, Fanny & baby
went back to "Fairfield". After
supper I walked up to the toll
house & mailed letters to Chas.
& to Ellie Wood. A "ten days meeting"
commemorative of the 75
Anniversary of the building of
the "Sharp Street" colored church
commenced today. I fear
there will be some sort of a
disgraceful "row" there before
it is done with, such at least
has been the usual out come of
such gatherings there of late
years; Having 4 or 5 of the "Ring
leaders" in the penetentury at
this time may make some difference.

Ther. 70 Clear & Cloudy. Wind. Variable
Monday Aug. 9,th 1897.

Went to Saml B Wetherald's to see
Warwick Stabler after breakfast,
and again about 2 p.m. & again
about dusk. Was called to see
Mrs John Oldfield after dinner.

Willie came about 3.o'clk & took
Dora back with him to "Fairfield"
to spend the night. F Leizear Jr
was here for "clippings" from my
"Daily Sun". J. T. Henderson here
to see me about the new School
House and her sons commenced
on Saturday to tear it down and
get it out of the way: they also
worked at it all day today.
