Cloudy
42° Ther. SAT. MAR 12th, 1898 Windy

Still cloudy & warm weather
for the time of year. Went to store
& P.O. & to the Mill for papers. Eliza
Green Howard was here for advice &
Medicine for her husband (Chas. Howard).
Afternoon Edwd went to "Cloverley"
to the "Jr. Musical" After supper
I went to the Store & toll house
again. There seems to be great
danger of our having war with
Spain as a consequence of the
blowing up of our ship "Maine"
in the harbor at Havana.
I devoutly hope it may be settled
otherwise, without more
blood shed, but it looks
very ugly just now. I subscribed
for the "Daily Balto American"
for four months.
