Clear. Ther. 32o Wed. Mar. 9th, 1898. Wind S.E.

Clear & pleasant weather continues. I went to the mill & to the Store & P.O. Afternoon I made & put up a "hand rail" at the side of the stair well in room over the office going to F. Leizear's shop to do some of the work. Edwd worked at some fancy painting work for Hannah S Archer. After supper E went next door to attend to the telephone switchboard whilst they went to the Lyceum to hear the "Atmore Family" who gave an entertainment there this evening.

Clear & Cloudy Ther. 33o. Thurs. Mar. 10th, 1898. Wind S.E.

Clear & warm all day until towards night, when it clouded over. Willie came & took lunch with us. Old John was here for advice & medicine. Warwick Stabler was here & paid his bill. Sarah E Stabler called to see Harriet & Dora. I went over to F. Downey's and paid him for wood & hay I bought from him some time ago. I also went to the store and to the mill & finished fixing the hand rail in room over the office. After supper Edwd went to the Lyceum to act as "doorkeeper" for the Lyceum Co. who are giving a "Musical and Dramatic" Entertainment to raise money to purchase a piano.

Cloudy. 35 Ther. FRI. MAR. 11th, 1898 S.E. Wind.

Went to store & P.O. & to Mill. for the papers. Afternoon Mary Gilpin called. Loaned my horse to F. Leizear to take Mrs Leizear a drive. Went to Mill for flour. Cloudy & threatning rain towards evening. After supper Harry Fairall came to practice telegraphy with Edwd. Kate Stabler was here to see Dora this morning. Frank Leizear sent the horse home about supper time.

Cloudy 42° Ther. SAT. MAR 12th, 1898 Windy

Still cloudy & warm weather for the time of year. Went to store & P.O. & to the Mill for papers. Eliza Green Howard was here for advice & Medicine for her husband (Chas. Howard). Afternoon Edwd went to "Cloverley" to the "Jr. Musical" After supper I went to the Store & toll house again. There seems to be great danger of our having war with Spain as a consequence of the blowing up of our ship "Maine" in the harbor at Havana. I devoutly hope it may be settled otherwise, without more blood shed, but it looks very ugly just now. I subscribed for the "Daily Balto American" for four months.

Cloudy 40° Ther. SUN. MAR. 1st, 1898 S E Wind.

Cloudy & threatning rain all day, until towards sun set Edwd & I went to meeting and heard a lecture from Edwd. Farquhar, his subject being "Eternity". Afternoon we had several light showers. Willie & Fanny came & spent an hour or two with us. It looked very threatning about 3. 30 p.m & the wind changed to N. W. with quite a heavy blow & some rain, but soon passed over, & the sun set beautifully clear, but still warm the frogs & birds singing. W & F went back to "Fairfield" before supper. After supper I walked up to the toll house.

Clear 40 Ther. MON. MAR. 14th, 1898 N. W. Wind .

Another beautiful spring day. I went to Fairall's & to the store. Afternoon walked to Ashton & back. Kate Stabler was here to see Dora. After supper went to village again. Edwd. went to Mt Airy to a "singing class". Hilles Robison came in to bid us good bye, starting tomorrow for "Klondike". Hallie Bentley called this morning to see H & Dora.

Cloudy 40° Ther. TUES. MAR. 15th, 1898 S.E. Wind.

Partly cloudy all day. Hilles Robison left home in the morning stage for his start to the gold fields of "Klondike" via New York & Seattle I rode over to Tilghman Mitchell's to see about his plowing our lot. Edwd. & I cleared the brush & weeds off the lot & burned them Went to the Store & P.O. The "Daily Balto American" news paper for which I subscribed commenced coming today. Afternoon Lizzie Scott was here to see Dora. It commenced raining towards evening (in showers) After supper I walked up to the toll house. Harry Fairall came to practice telegraphy with Edwd.

Cloudy 43 Ther. WED. MAR. 16th, 1898.

Cloudy & chilly this morning and indeed all day. I went up to the P. O. Tilghman Mitchell came with his team and plowed our lot. After dinner he plowed the lot next door for Mrs Robisons. Afternoon Alcinda Thomas was here to see me After supper I went to the Store & toll house. Harry Fairall came again to practice with Edwd. Edwd. went this afternoon down to "Sherwood" School to fix the Electric bells which had got out of order. The "Atmore family" gave another Exhibition at the Lyceum this evening.

Cloudy 50 Ther THURS. MAR. 17th, 1898 S.E. Wind

St Patrick's day was ushered in by a salute of Nature's artillery We had quite a thunder-storm about 2.o'clock this a.m. lasting about 1-1/2 hours, it rained nearly all night. We are glad we had our lot plowed yesterday. Cleared off & was very warm. "Old John" came & hauled the boards I got of Mrs. R from the School House. Willie, Fanny & baby came & spent several hours with us after lunch. W. helped us bring the boards over I shot a cat (with my revolver) that had been killing Edwds pigeons, and driven them out of their loft. Kate Stabler here to see Dora. After supper Sarah Dent Thornton was here for advice & Medicine

Clear & Cloudy 50° FRI. MAR. 18th, 1898 Variable & Wind. SE

Clear & bright early this morning, & continued so until about 10.o'clk when it clouded over & before night commenced raining in showers. Edwd. took his mother to "Riverside" in the [haeton & back to lunch. Afternoon I walked to Ashton & back. H. & Edwd called at "Eldon" a few minutes this morning. After supper I went to the toll house & back. Harry Fairall came to practice with Edwd again.
