68 [degrees] Cloudy & Clearing. N.W.
Ther. SAT. SEPT. 9, 1899. Wind.
It rained quite a shower last
night, & was cloudy this morning,
but cleared off afternoon.
Bulwar came & worked next door
until noon, after which he came
& before night finished putting
on the tin roofing but did not
do quite all that is to be done
and promised to come again on
Monday. Willie came afternoon
to attend a game of base ball
in Mary Gilpin's field. I went
also with Edwd. but I soon came
home. I rode to Ashton after
lunch with Wallace Bond and
walked home. Willie went
back to "Fairfield" after tea.
Bulwar also remained to tea
after which I walked up to
the store & P.O. This was my
70th birthday, but in many
ways I certainly do not feel
that old, for which I should
be thankful, and hope I am.

58 [degrees] Clear N.W.
Ther. SUN. SEPT. 10th, 1899. Wind.
Quite cool this morning. I was
inclined to make a fire in the
Franklin stove, but did not, and
it soon became warm enough
without it. Edwd & I went to
meeting and heard a sermon
from Edwd Farquhar. Mr A. G.
Mathews came before lunch
time and about 2 - 30 p.m.
took Ida and the two little
girls to "Hazeldean," Hallie
having gone before with her
uncle Henry Mathews.
Edwd. rode over to "Fairfield"
before supper on the bicycle
and returned before bed time.
I went up to Fairall's office after tea.
I also went to Frank Cook's
in the afternoon & readjusted
the bandages etc on his arm
removing the "splint" I had
applied when it was injured.
