CHOREIC CONVULSIONS
are often due to anaemia. At any rate such cases recover
more quickly when a "blood building" regimen is instituted.
The nerve centres need a more highly oxygenated
blood. Pepto-Mangan (Gude) supplies the vital
fluid with organic iron and manganese in an easily
assimilable form. These agents increase the haemoglobin
- the haemoglobin carries the oxygen to all the tissues.
This is the "rationale" of the good effects of Pepto-
Mangan (Gude).

Several showers during last night, and
a heavy rain with thunder etc. early this
morning. I walked to Ashton and back
after breakfast. Willie staid here last
night and went back with Fanny, who
brought sister Harriet here this morning.
At noon we had a heavy downpour of rain
with some thunder & lightning. Edward
was at home to dinner.

March 8, 1901.
S. M. B. Smith, M. D., Crandon, Wis., says:
"I was gratified and greatly surprised at the excellent
results from the use of your Pepto-Mangan (Gude) in
an obstinate and long-continued case of anaemia. I have
also prescribed it in many cases of grippe as an after
tonic with excellent results in every case."

I was called up last night just after
midnight to attend to a pistol shot
wound in the [...]foot of a youth named
Richard Snowden. I sent him to Washington
to Freedmans Hospital. Fred Iddings
came (after breakfast) & took sister H to
"Riverside" to spend the day. [...]Fred I
brought sister H back after supper.
