Our club met at Thos J Lee's all the members
except two were present, & we had several guests,
Wm T Bond was chosen foreman, after reading
the minutes of the last meeting here, we went out
to see the condition of things. The Hen-house wanted
several things to make it complete, for instance a
roof- weatherboarding &c Our Host does not believe
in over-stocking himself with swine- he has our
pig & one Hog - the latter of which he talks of sacrificing
to the price of 15 cts per lb. In the Corn House
we were shown some corn the seed of which had been
planted late in late June it had good sound grains.
We next went to a field to see a stump puller at work
The strength of the "Little Giant" combinded with that
of the "Club junior" was found insufficient to extract
stumps which were very small & very old, It was
conceded that it would pull up small corn stalks
We spent so much time amusing ourselves with it
that it was too late to examine any thing else. -
Adjoining to the house the following subjects were
discussed. Which is the best two horse plow?
Minor & Horton (6) Cumming (9).- 2 voted for
a new plow made at Laurel & 1 for Woodcock
Will it pay to Haul leaves into the barn yard?
Yes (10) No (8)- Would you plant small
seed potatoes ? No by a majority? Will any
kind of wood other than hickory do to smoke meat?
[?] [?] are very good - What kinds of
Potatoes will you plant almost every time except
Early Goodrich.- What do you think of Planting Peas
