The Enterprise Club met at Robt. M. Stablers, & at
4 o'clock ten members were present. Saml Hopkins, Wm S.. Bond & P.T.
Stabler came later & Jos. T. Moore, Thos J Lea & R B Farquhar, failed
[?] to put in an appearance. Wm W Moore was appointed.
foreman & Benj. H. Miller Sec for the day.
after reading the minutes of the last meeting at this place we
took our usual walk. & the first things to remark, were some very fine
Mangolds, & Belgian Carrots, which were not approved as they grew
much out of the ground. Passing by one peach orchard
we came to another more recently planted which had been planted
in Potatoes; the hands were just covering up numerous large
piles; we were informed that our hosts potato cellar was
full & upon passing into another field we found several
more larger heaps covered ready for winter, so we judge our hosts
[?] will not suffer for exercise this coming winter.
after leaving the potatoes we passed into a cabbage patch
containing near 3,000 heads, & 9/10 of them seemed to be fine large
solid heads. fit for slaw, & our hosts was in a quandary what
to do with them, as they were not worth hauling to market
Returning toward the house we met the cows going out to look for
some of said cabbage upon which they are fed twice a day.
Some of the members assisted our host to repair a break in
one of post & rail fences, as we passed along, which was about the
