Pres J.B. Stabler called the
meeting to order about the usual
time. The Secy, having some
important business to attend to
at Annapolis was excused for
his father to officiate on this
occasion. It is an old saying
"You can lead a horse to water
but you cannot make him drink"
so it is with a Secy. You can
insist on a fellow being appointed
but you cannot make him serve [deralty]
On this occasion the secy. pro tem made
numerous minutes in a desultory manner put
them aside until these hierogliphics
with the assistance of a poor memory
have failed for a suitable not to say
sensible record of a very interesting meeting

On our walk over the farm we first
noted about 1 dz fine yearling calves
mostly grade jerseys. They showed
that good attention had been bestowed
upon them. On this farm is a youg
orchard consisting of about 175 peach
and 500 apple trees. Like the heiffers
they too are receiving careful and intellegint
attention. The only criticism heard was
that the limbs on some trees started
too nearly opposite each other and might
split down when loaded with fruit. A
large portion of the apples are of the Stayman
York & Paragon variaties and as these are
known to be excellent in quality there is no
liklihood being fooled when he purchases
a box or barrel of Plainfield fruit.

After supper the minutes of the
last meeting were read: They reminded us
of several things of interest that B.H.
