250 meeting
Mt Olney. 10-23-93
Owing to illness in the family at
Sunnyside the September Home
Interest was dropped, and to the society assembled
10-23 at Mt. Olney for its 250th meeting. The gavel
in the hand of the Prest fell promptly at 5 o clock
and called to order a goodly array of members and
guests, but not an hospitable host, whose business
kept him in Washington.

As it was damp we omitted the usual walk
after the reading of the minutes of the last meeting
here; and our hostess assuring us that
there was "nothing to see" out of doors we just
took her word for it, and proceeded to read
and adopt the minutes of the last meeting.

Then various people reported having
found shawls in the road and elsewhere,
but no one present claimed any of them.

Some one told us of a contrivance seen at
the World's Fair, for supplying chickens with
fresh water. It consisted of a tin can of water
with a hole an inch or less from the top inverted
in a plate a little deeper than the distance
of the hole from the top of the can.

Carrie d. Brooke was advised to leave her small
rosebushes is of handy varieties, where they are for
the winter, well mulched and slightly protected,
