The 657th meeting of the Home Interest met with Mrs. Weld
and daughter at LULWORTH Dec. 22, 1931.

The guests were Mrs. Thompson; Mr. & Mrs. Cole and Miss
Fitzgerald. and Sue Thomas.

The absent members were Eliz. & Garland Ligon; Cynthia
& Maurice Stabler;Bessie & Harry Stabler; Fred Thomas; Eliz. & Elgar
Farquhar; Faith & Edwin Morris; Annie B. & Sarah Kirk; Emily & Jean
Coulter; Elliott Janney came in Joe's place.

After a pleasant social hour, supper was served following
which the meeting was called with Wm. J. Thomas in the chair and
Margaret Fussell acting as secretary in the absence of Helen Hallo-
well.

The minutes of the last meeting at LULWORTH were read fol-
lowed by the minutes of the last meeting which was held at TANGLE-
WOOD. The reading of the incompleted questions of the last meet-
ing were omitted pending the return of the secretary. The minutes
of the last meeting were amended to include the name of Mrs. Hurrey
on the program committee.

The program committee had not met on account of illness.
There were no suggestions for the annals.

In the absence of Joe Janney, Milton Bancroft reportrd
from the Community Council that County School Supt. Broome had given
a talk on the Major School Plan. That Sherwood was to be one of the
large school centers. Milton also reported on radio on police
cars; installation of call boxes; power rates;a prize for Junior
High School and a flag given to the Boy Scouts. At the Dec.
18th 1931 meeting of the Community Council a resolution was read
criticizing the appointment to school boards and committees of those
who held political offices or those immediately interested in pol-
litics.

The discussion which followed brought out a sentiment in
favor of the prohibition of such appointees but it was thought the
resolution was too broad to be effective.

Emily Coulter and Norris Fussell were on the forethought
committee. Emily Coulter being absent, Norris Fussell read a
jingle, which upon motion by Elza Thomas was ordered spread upon t
the minutes and is as follows:

The clan elect of Sandy Spring
For many years has tried to bring
About a definition true
Of just one word,- a bug-a-boo.

Of all who tried most all have failed;
Likely because they all have quailed
At such a Herculean task,-
Or else endeavored because were asked.
