Sept 24th 1870
Met at Norwood. Most of the members and
several guests present. In the absence of the foreman
and Sec. Dr. Magruder and Francis Stabler appointed
in their places. There was quite a hand
-some display of flowers, Margaret Magruder bring
-ing two bouquets and a basket of verbenas,
Rachel Gilpin flowers and sweet potatoes,
S. B. Stabler a bouquet Eliza Brooke four bouquets,
Annie Miller a large assortment of
brilliant flowers. D. A. Lea who was too ill
to be present sent three bouquets. [R. R. Moore|R R Moore]]
sent a specimen of fine pears and ripe figs
enough for all to partake.

Why do rose slips turn black often and die?
It is thought that it generally is produced by water
-ing too much instead of too little.
Why does Celery not so well this year? No cause
known as it has been treated by several who are usu-
-ally successful as heretofore. Thought to be the
dry season.
How to raise Sweet potatoes and when to dig
them?
