The first meeting of the Horticultural meet
ing was held at Edward Lea's. The weather
was very good and the meeting pleasant. Sever
al members were absent much to the regret of those
assembled. The Foreman H. C. Hallowell sent a
note to the Society regretting his absence and
giving us good wishes for an auspicious open-
ing. C. A. Iddings was appointed to take his place
for the day. The specimens were but few
our hostess had fine head of cabbage and a
turnip. Rachel Gilpin a very good sweet potatoe
M. Magruder a bouquet Eliza Brooke a bouquet
of elegant geraniums and other flowers
E. S. Iddings a bouquet, Carrot, onion turnip
and salsify
