Oct. 6th 1874
Our Society met at Norwood. A large
and pleasant company: our guests were
Anna Hallowell of Philadelphia, Hadassah Co.,
Robert Moore Mary B. Brooke, Charles H and
Anna F. Brooke, M. B. Kirk Carrie Brooke
Sue Thomas, Mary Lizzie Moore, & Mr.
Johnson Some of our members
came from the wedding of Gerard Hopkins
and Emily Snowden which they
reported as beautiful and satisfactory
The specimens were very fine. From
Longwood pears a bouquet of Dahlias
Tuberoses & Gladiolus, a dish of Geraniums
and a bouquet of Roses. From Springdale
a basket of verbenas and dish
of Nasturtums. From Sharon and Riverside
each a bouquet, from Brooke Grove
two bouquets from Rockland five apples
and turnips and from Hermon a
quantity of elegant Roses.
It was decided that this
meeting should be the last this year.
The Horticultural Exhibition was discussed
at some length and we decided
we could not give up our
President but will appoint five or
more assistants or vice-presidents, and
if, for any reason, any one of them
