Raspberry? Very little as it has only
recently been introduced into our
neighborhood

None

8 Is it right to bank up dwart pear trees
which have been loosened by freezing
Yes, above the graft.

T. J. Lea showed us some wine-sap apples
which had been kept in an unfinished
room where the mercury was frequently
at or below Zero; they had been
frozen repeatedly and were not at all
hurt and he expected them to be
good until June. He had tried root
pruning a pear tree to make it bear
which was successful but the tree
only lived a few years. He liked a plan
he had tried of trimming raspberries
into a tree shape

M. B. Magruder sent a receipt for making
Lima beans do without stakes by persistant
pinching back after they get to
the usual height of bush beans, said
to make them come earlier and bear
better. (see last page for further particulars
and also for the "Effect of
Ammonia fumes on flowers" also sent
by M. B. Magruder.
