She has from 80 to 100 varieties of
roses, besides other bedding plants. The
roses were magnificent.

He has been investigating
maples, and finds there are 17 var
ities, which he thinks accounts for
many disappointments; in trying
to select those which have brillian
colors in autumn it is easy to
make a wrong selection.

Questions

1 Has any one ever injured young
rose bushes by watering with soap
suds? Yes several have, and one
lady was mentioned who had killed
30 in that way, but a well estab
lished bush will stand any quan
tity of suds or ashes

2 Is too late to plant canteleups? No.

3 Is it too late to plant Nasturtiums? No

4 How do the market gardeners get
ahead of the striped bug?

5 How best get ride of plantains in
a lawn? Use the lawn mower and
top dress with ashes.

In our walk we saw good order
and vigorous growth. The roses were
in splendid bloom and were very abun
dant.
