Roan Mountain, on which were 300
acres of Rhododendrons, and ferns
apparently, by the square mile, beautiful
"forget-me-nots" by the acre and
many beautiful varieties of trees and
flowers. The hotel was on the line
between the two states so that the
meal cooked in one was served
in the other. Our former member,
Frances Miller, suggested that
farmers should leave all ornamental
vines, ivies, honey-suckle, clematis,
to cover fences. Some object,
others think the beauty would make
amends for the inconvenience.

Of the readers Annie F. Brooke was
absent. Patty Hopkins read an article
on weeds, showing their use as
fertilizer when properly treated.

1 What remedy for insects on Chrysanthemums?
A wash of whale oil
soap or pin a paper around
and use insect powder.

2 Should the twigs on fruit trees
injured by locusts be cut off.

his orchard untrimmed and it
flourished but than those which
