given 1 lb of Alum to 5 gals of water.

2 When take cuttings of gooseberries currants & grapes
As soon as the leaves fall, make a trench
put in the cuttings and cover with earth.
In the spring uncover one bud, leave
in the trench until fall or following
spring when transplant to permanent bed.

3 How purify rain water? Fill a bag with
charcoal and put under the spout so
that the rain water shall flow through
it into the cask.
