John Bentley's plan of planting in freshly
worked sod ground, had failed
with some persons. A guest who had tried
it said he had failed to raise egg plants
for the 30th time. A member had succeeded
well with them, planting in a rather
stiff garden soil and putting 6 inches of
sand around the plants.

We found the flower and vegetable
gardens looking well and no weeds
to be seen. The salsify was remarkably
well advanced.
Mary T. Kirk, formerly a member of
the Horticultural Society wishes to join
again. A vacancy having occurred,
her application will be considered
at next meeting.
