How keep a crape myrtle? No experience
5
Who have brought their plants into the house?
A few members have brought them in -
others are getting them ready. Ellen
Farquhar leaves hers till as near November
as possible
6
Is it too late to sow cabbage for setting
our early in the Spring? Try sowing now
in a cold frame. The middle of September
is considered a good time.
7
Is it best to depend upon old plants of
Heliotrope for next Season or new? New
plants are best. If old plants are used trim
back severely. The new growth will make
good plants for setting out in the Spring.
Louisa Nesbitt told us at a previous meeting
of her success with Heliotropes from
seed; planted in May it bloomed in
August and made nice plants for winter.
Ellen Farquhar brought well rooted
plants of Yellow Jessamim for winter blooming
for distribution and our hostess had
a number of Aloe plants - potted for
distribution.
On our walk we admired the
flower garden, still bright with flower
beds of Chrysanthemums in bud.
