H/9/1901 -1-

Riverton
Sept - 5th 1901 moon 84°

Our president- and most members
were on time. The minutes were read
and approved.
1st Reader, Ellen Farquhar read that
the very large chrysanthemums of
the shows, are made by allowing
very few buds to remain on the plant
and stimulating it with nitrate
of soda and sulphate of ammonia
2nd Culture of currants. Moisture
and partial shade conducive to
healthy bushes and good fruit.
2 Reader, Robert Miller, absent.
Volunteer Mary E. Gilpin read of
the worms and insects which are destroying
tomatoes and fruit - trees in
the vicinity of Baltimore.
Forethought - reminded us that- the
time for preparing for window
gardens and conservatories had
arrived, and that the destruction
of weeds should still go on,
also a tirade against that.
