By-laws of the Sandy Spring Horticultural Society.

1.

That this association shall be called the Horticultural Society of Sandy Spring.

2.

That the membership shall consist of sixteen families.

3.

That the meetings shall be called to order at quarter after four o'clock on the first Tuesday of every month,excepting April and October,meeting according to the alphabetical arrangement of the names of places. In April and October the members shall assemble at half past twelve o'clock,a lunch be served at one o'clock before entering on the business of the meeting.

4.

That the Officers shall consist of a President,Vice-President, Secretary and Assistant appointed by the Hostess.

5.

That there shall be an election of Officers in April to serve two years.

6.

A written application for membership shall be presented at one meeting and voted on at the next,unanimous consent being requisite for an election.

7.

That the order of business shall be as follows :-

1. Call to order by the President.

2. Reading of the minutes of the last meeting.

3. Reading of selected articles by two members appointed by the President.

4. Reading of volunteer articles.

5. Report of Committee on "Forethought".

6. Noon Temperature Weather report -Meteorology

7. Poultry report.

8. Reading of exhibits present, by the Assistant.

9. Unfinished business.

10. Reports of Committees.

11. New business.

12. Questions.

13. Name place of next meeting and readers appointed,

14. Adjournment for inspection of garden and lawn.

Resolutions.

Resolved:-

1st.:- That the adoption of these By-laws shall annul all previous By-laws passed by the Society.

Resolved:-

2nd.:- That these laws shall be entered on the first pages of each book used by the Secretary.

Resolved:-

3rd.:- That no new members shall be elected until the present membership falls below sixteen families.

Resolved:-

4th.:- That the Rules and By-laws shall be read at those first meeting each year.

5th.:- That the day before each meeting every family shall report to the Hostess how many from that house expect to attend.

Resolved:-

6th.:- That only the minutes of the previous meeting shall be read,except by special request.
