QUESTIONS.

Helen Hallowell asked asdvise for treatment
of an old sickle pear tree showing decline, Trim
out dead wood fertilize with mitrate of soda.

Should pear blight be cut out? Yes.

How often should ferns be repotted? Evdry
Fall before taking then in for the winter.

How often should a lawn be limed? The Dept.
of Agriculture does not favor lime for lawns, an
acid soil is required for blue grass. A good Com.
fertilizer, is recommended. Peat moss and chicken
manure is a good dressing for a lawn.

Ernest Iddings suggests a carrier for leaves
when raking the fall leaves.

Mary Stabler recommends the Klondike Cosmos as
desirable, plant early.

Mrs. Weld asked our Society to send a protest
against the reduction of teachers salaries in the
County, asking for an investigation as to whether
a reduction has been made amoun other county Officials
The question was referred to the Community Council

What to do with raspberry bushed grown very
vigorous, was another question. Cut out all old
growth, trim close, but spring is the best time.

The summer tempature was not normal. The
Thermator reached 100 only once or twice during
the summer, but in the nineties two days at a time.
June and July had one half their normal percipatation
August about one third, while September was around
normal. Gardens suffered in some places from drouth
as in previous years. The early potato crop was a
failure, wheat a short crop, corn good in favored
places. A shortage of water is yet reported, but
the return of water to wells and springs is found in
many sections of the community.

As we close the record of our Society for
this year of 1932, we can byt know we have been a f
favored people here in our neighborhood, and give
thanks for the blessings, and yet - - - - this
October day we looked at the picture nature gave us -

A drowsy haze, the sewwtest tang
of burning embers smoulding low,
The bronze of aok, the scarlet, green
And Hickories radiant saffron glow.

The Hills a blaze of color lie,
Accented with the black of pine
Against the deepened blue of sky
A jagged flaming boundary line.

The earth's bedecked with wondrous art
