interesting wood picture of the Yosemite
with its swath of wild flowers, especially
after the unusually heavy rains
this season, the great majesty of
the centuries old Sequoia trees, the
impressive Grand Canyon & other
natural wonders.

No one crossing the continent this
year could fail to be distressed by
the barren wastes that had been
made by the terrible dust storms and
which they noted especially in lower
Kansas. The talk brought forth experiences &
anecdotes from others who had traveled in the West.
Andrew Adams has a sequoia tree
several years old grown from a seed
& it will be of interest to hear of
its future.

Mary Hutton had found the
shrub the name of which at the last
meeting no could tell her, was
choke cherry which in addition tp
the pretty bloom in spring, had red berries in the fall.

Forethought advice was to keep
the garden filled with good plants
so weeds could not flourish.
Work tobacco in the ground around
asters to help ward off their
enemies & dust cantaloupes as soon
as up & watch for beetles.
