In April we had all the varaities
of weather the U.S. Weather Bureau
has in its catalog. On the 9th we
had 2 inches of snow with the
mercury 33°, and on the 16th the
mercury fell to 28° here and 13° with
3 inches of snow in western Md.,
killing most fruit buds blossoms.
The 27th the mercury soared to 89°
and the 29th we had hail storms
that knocked off about all the
fruit blossoms the freeze didn't kill.
I say hail storms advisedly, because
I was in two of them.
April precipitation 3.95" average 3.37".
May came in with the mercury at
43° and by may the 24th the mercury
had worked down to 40° with the
furnace fire going full blast.
Precip 3.54". average 3.70".
