April 2nd was a lovely
Spring day for the first meeting
of the Horticultural for the
1940 season.
Since last fall we have lost
two of our members. Mary M.
Tilton and Dr. Henry J. Nichols
who have always taken a real
interest in the Horticultural
because of a love for all growing
things. Dr. Nichols held two offices
in this society. First as chairman
and later as meteorologist.
In memory of those friends we
observed a moment of silence, -
before we took up the order of
business.
The minutes of the Wesley Hall
meeting in October, were recorded
as read.
Andrew Adams, a reader,
chose an article from a new
magazine, entitled "Real Gardening"
the subject being Hybridizing in
your own garden. He read in
detail how pollen is collected
at just the right time of day,
volume it is in a proper place for
pollinization. Bags and tags +
very fine instruments are part of
the paraphanalia used by
Hybridizers.
