H/7/1940 -2-
are many days during the
growing season where it is
pleasant to view it from
the windows. A fenced in
garden is attractive and gives
a feeling of coziness.
Forethought
Apply fertilizer when the
earth is moist. Cut stems
of iris to the ground, and
trim also those winter
blooming olants. Poinsettias
can be brought to the light
and cut back. Trellis
tomatoes should have shoots
taken off. Put compost in
for bulbs. Keep flowers
growing rapidly to avoid
disease.
Mary Brooke, assist. sec.,
reported a good display of
flowers and vegetables, considering
the dry season, the driest
for years.
Mrs. Hill told of a Horticultural
society in Worcester, Mass. which
is 100 yrs. old. This society
of ours is more than 75 yrs old.
We decided to have a pic-nic
meeting during the summer.
