H/9/1941 -2.
The matter of the Sherwood fence, reported Mr. Slade, has not yet been dropped.
Cos. Richard Iddings gave a comprehensive survey pf the weather.
It is impossible to repeat here all the interesting questions and answers.
We are looking forward to the exciting gift by Andrew Adams of hemerocallis roots to the Horticultural members.
Lofton Wesley asked everyone please to bring suggestions for the Alloway gardens to the next meeting. Plant lillies, was Cos. Mary Magruder's suggestions on the spot. Lots of gladioli, said Cos. Mort.
Excellent advice was given by Edward Iddings in regard to the Alloway English box: Minimize digging around the plants ; pull weeds instead, as the first roots are close to the top of the ground and easily killed.
Cos.Jessie McReynolds shared her baptisia seed.
May I repeat the appropriate poem read by Mamie Stabler:
"Come into the garden,Maud!
Be charitable toward what you see,
For the garden we make is never
The garden we'd like it to be -
but NEXT year - that's just what keeps
us all
At our gardening, you and me ."
This pleasant session adjourned, to meet next at Edgewood; readers, Helen T. Hallowell and Mr. Hill.
After a little anniversary celebration for Robert and Mary Miller, we did justice to supper at Alloway.
