H/5/1946-2.

Lovely exhibits of flowers were brought by Edward
Iddings
, Edgewood; and Mary Hutton's handsome
amaryllis graced the assembly. The Cedars and
Tanglewood brought vegetables, among which was a
pea vine with pods from the latter.

The Burnt Mill Woods Committee reported that it
is now impossible to get control of property in that section.
Mary Reading Mill may want to appoint additional
members to the Memorial Committee.

At this point we recognized Robert Miller's
refusal to serve further right now as an excellent
president, so we unanimously and pleasurably elected Frederick McReynolds
president, and Lofton Wesley, vice-president.
Robert Miller will confer with Jessie McReynolds
regarding a new secretary. We were sorry to learn
that our dear meteorologist is unable to continue
in that job; however, we are pleased that Edward
Iddings
will be the new weather man. He was asked
to investigate the price of rain guages, and
whether they may be obtained.

Dues were collected from all the families
present, making the treasurer's balance on hand
as of June first, $24.50.

On account of the lateness of the hour, the
reading of the By-Laws was postponed until the
next meeting.

The Question and Answer period was largely a
helpful one. Weedone is a fine eradicator of
poison ivy. Jessie McReynolds kindly brought
cuttings of a begonia for distribution.

The meeting was adjourned. The members regretted
that a driving rain prevented their seeing Robert
Miller
's prize garden. It is impossible to resist
any of the "covered dish" supper offerings, so we
set to work on heaped-up plates and talked about what
a nice meeting it had been.
