the Notes spoke of the various spring-flowering
bulbs and carried us right into Spring; --"that is
the joy of work in the garden, - a fresh beginning
and hope for the future."

As assistant secretary, Lena Stabler gave the
list of exhibits of vegetables and fruit over
which the Wesleys smacked their lips for several
days following. Prize exhibits came from The
Cedars and The Highlands. Millwood brought a
charming mixture of flowers, and the large,
efficient-looking rain guage, which measured only
2.64 inches of rain in all of August.

Interesting questions were asked, some were
answered, and mention was made of Louis Bromfield's
stimulating and important book, "Pleasant Valley".

Upon adjournment we basked as usual in the
fellowship of friends around the generous "covered
dishes", on the supper table.
