TEN OAKS
The gardens at Ten Oaks always add interest to
our meetings there and they seemed to be more beautiful
than ever when the Horticulture met with Andrew and
Roberta Adams on Aug. second. We wandered with delight
along wide green paths that wind informally
through the extensive plantings of shrubs and flowers,
and admired not only the beautiful location with its
background of stately oak forest but the charming
little vistas that each sloping path presented.
Less extensive but no less charming is the housegarden
that stretches away from the patio between
splendid box bushes which, we were told, have been
grown from slips by our gifted hostess.
Supper was made all the more enjoyable by its
being eaten on the lawn as well as on the roomy
enclosed porch which has been added to the house
since our last meeting there; and when Pres. Bentley
called the business meeting to order we selected
seats on either of these two places.
With the minutes disposed of we turned our attention
to the fine report which Mary Moore Miller gave of her
recent European travels. She told in fascinating
detail of her journey from Gibraltar (with its the journey'stwisted olive
trees, brilliant-colored wild flowers, among which was
a bee orchid - so named because of the image in its
