The small meeting has few questions. But Ulrich
delighted us with his descriptions of the beauty
of the native laurel on the Merritt Parkway; now 4 to
10 feet in height, it was planted 30
years ago. He also mentioned the lupines in
Nova Scotia, Originally planted for stock feeding
they have escaped and scattered and make a colorful
showing. He noticed that pracice of spe cializing
in a garden; he remembered one garden with about
100 feet square feet all in pinks.

Lucy wanted to know whether pinks were
successful here and Ulrich though they were;
Elizabeth Cabdy asked one about a solution of
clorox for iris. The answer You gave it right
on the rhizomes

The secretary was asked to write
to Edward Iddings expressing our concern over
his accident. This was done belatedly.

A copy of the invitation and the list of
persons given the secretary who are to be
invited are attached to these minutes.

Meeting adjourned to Fieldhead, Sept. 3,

Lucy Manning
