1. Bea Wilson showed 2 weeds for for us
to identify - one was a burdock, the
other was udentified as dock,
it was noted that it had a square stem
like the mint family -
2. Betty Ligon commented about the
many Japanese beetles this year - what
are the theories about them? Everyone
agreed this is a 'bad year' -
3. Flora Goff was asking about traps
for Gypsy moths - someone from the Dept.
of Agriculture has put up a trap in one of their
apple trees and has been back to
check it - bait was gone - no sign of
moths -
4. Alan Thomas reports that 6 plants out of
8 cantaloupe seeds are growing and
Love melons on the vines - Betty
Ligon's are growing too!
5. Dale Thomas was told that it is
too late to "debud" chrysanthemums -
