Lucy Manning read an interesting
article on the migration of Birds from
Horticulture Magazine of June, 1972.
The migratory habits of birds are varied -
almost as varied as the species of birds -
and there are many theories about these
habits, but little data really authenticated.
Who, when, where, how and why, we constantly
ask - some travel by day, others by
night - some rest along the way, others fly
non - stop - some a long way, others a
short distance. Probably the Arctic Tern
travels the greatest distance each year
from above the Arctic Circle to the Antarctic
and back. Many of us have our own
pet theories and enjoy watching each
season for the return and departure of our
favorite feathered friends - also hoping that
some will stay with us all year round.

Flora Goff read a supplementary
article on " Curing the Dutch Elm
Disease ". It is reported that there is
definite hope of curing elm trees
infected with the disease - based on
two recent developements : a pressure
