Maryland Historical Society Magazine about the C&O
Canal and the R.R.
Tom Canby asks if magnolia can be raised from
seed. Very difficult to achieve [unclear brittle? vessicle? Apt?] used
heat under the seed. Layering is sometimes employed.

the walnut tree which has a toxic effect.

in Shenandoah National Park at Big Meadows
