Horticultural Society
August 7th - Bien Venue - with Bea & Walter Wilson

As we parked our cars in the grassy area
behind the Wilsons' charming house atop the
hill overlooking Triadelphia Lake, we were warmly
greeted an assisted by our host Walter. Bea had
all in readiness for us within, and on the slopes
below the house the wild flower garden and the
well tended border were a delight. The deep pink
geraniums which Bea perpetuates from year
to year by cuttings made patches of color
mixed with perennials and annuals, and
rows of sun-flower heads to be used for
birds were a show.

As always selecting foods from a variety
of dishes and enjoying them with friends
was a true delight.

Alan Thomas convened the meeting in
Buzzy Hussman's absence. Also missed
were Bill and Nancy Canby, Elizabeth Ligon,
Francis & Grace, Bill Hartge, and the
European Travelers, John and Dorothy Weske
and Ellis and Lucy Manning. With Betty
Hartge
was her mother, Rebecca Small.

Mary Reading Miller had graciously offered to
read and her article was entitled "Weeds in
the Wind," from Wildlife Life Story. All of us
can learn from the weeds - steadfast blue
of chicory, tenacious quality of bind-weed,
the beauty of jewel weed and milk-weed.
