The Horticultural Society, Tuesday, June 4th,
1974. "The Cottage" - Mary Moore Miller hostess.
Members of Horticultural plus guests were
most fortunate to be greeted by Mary Moore Miller
who had volunteered to entertain us in June
instead of when her turn would be in October.
Her yard and garden were so pretty with roses,
large yellow Iris, blooming bedding plants
and other flowers. A round bed of pachysandra
as a focal point was unusual. A tall
rose plant was in bloom in the middle of it.
After good food, and along with it plenty
of cheerful chatter, Vice Chairman Alan Thomas
called us to order and introduced the guests,
Iris Beall, Margaret Jones and Lil Brooke.
Absent were John Weske, Goffs, Seilers and
Hussmans, Dale Thomas and Bill and Nancy Canby.
Two Dues were added to our amount collected
in May, and all members have paid their toll.

on
the subject of ancient methods of farming.

house-hold duties. Cicero wrote that
agriculture is "a source of joy." Legumes
