Horticultural Society. September 3rd, 1974.
"The Cedars" - Douglas and Helen Farquhar, hosts.
As guests laden with cover-dishes of good
food, and some with exhibits of flowers and
vegetables, arrived, the warm clear weather
game way to rain and a sudden drop in
temperature. We enjoyed corn-pudding and
other dishes before gathering for the meeting.
Since both President Hussman and
Vice-President Alan Thomas were absent,
Harry Goff called us to order and most
ably conducted the meeting which was small
due to the fact that the first Tuesday
came after the Monday that was Labor Day
and must have had the ear-marks of a
Sunday, the state Fair at Timonium, the illness
of Dale Thomas, and travel, 15 members
were absent. Those of us who were here
missed all of the others, who were
Woodwards, Bill Canbys, Jenny Canby, Hartges,
Buzzy Hussman, two Thomas families,
Mrs. Mannakee and the Weskes. Guests Lucy & Margrett.
Minutes were read by the secretary and
adopted after changing Robert Miller's tree
from a Chinese Dogwood to a willow.
Sylvia was not present to give "Forethought."
and no appointed reader was present, so
Mary Reading read an article on the
