H/10/1974-1-

Horticultural Society
October 1st, 1974. "The Highlands"
Hosts: Robert and Mary Reading Miller.

The last meeting for the season of 1974
was held on the first day of the month, and
Robert and Mary Reading greeted us on a
delightful evening. The grass was green all
around the house, chrysanthemums were a
mass of yellow, trees were beginning to
turn and roses bloomed on the tall bushes.
Some vegetables had survived the early frosts.

As is the custom, we piled our plates
with "I wonder-what-this-is" surprises
(what more can a meal-planning housewife
wish for) and enjoyed the good food
as we conversed with friends.

Ellis Manning presided over the meeting
in the absence of President Hussman, and
Vice-President Thomas. Other absentees
were the two Canby families, Weskes, Mrs.
Mannakee, Seilers, Bill Hartge and Dale Thomas.
Guests were: Charlie and Mary Jo Williams and
Mary Hussman.

After the reading and adoption of the minutes
of last month's meeting, a nominating Committee
was appointed by the Presiding Chairman to
find officers for the next two years.
Robert H. Miller, Claire Hutton and Caroline
